Brian Ford had expressed an interest in the sponsoring of a tree in the conservation area when first in the planning. Unfortunately his unexpected passing meant that his wish was unable to come to fruition.
Consequently, to recognise the contribution that Brian had made to the running of the Seniors’ Group, the Seniors Committee decided to establish a fund with the intention of fulfilling his wish. Donations to this fund were requested from members.
In total a sum of over £331 was raised. A 3.5 metre ornamental pear tree was purchased and planted in the conservation area near to the second tee and a memorial plaque will be mounted shortly.
It was always the intention that any excess funds be donated to The Prospect Hospice Wroughton, which was the charity chosen by Brian’s family. Therefore the remainder of the money raised was donated to that charity on behalf of the Seniors at Brinkworth Golf Club.
